I think I know the answer to this but I thought I'd ask anyway..........We are having a new kitchen fitted and as a temporary measure would like to move the washing machine into the garage, plumbing the waste pipe into the soil system isn't possible, is it a hanging offence to plumb into the rainwater downpipe ?

Many thanks

If its only a temp measure, I would do it.
But as you said, you know you shouldnt

If your surface water drains into a soak away (highly likely unless it’s an older property) consider that if you pump the contents of your washing machine into it for any length of time, the detergent could eventually clog it up.
