water not coming out of a tap

Hi

Twice I have fixed a customers bath cold tap. Each time the hex drop down part had come off the bottom of the spindle thread. I have put on a new washer and greased the hex part. It works for a few days and then comes off again.

Anyone know where I am going wrong?

Try putting a new tap washer on. Sounds as if the present one has become compressed / worn, allowing too many turns of the spindle before it shuts off properly. You fix it, it fine for a while, then the customer tightens it down hard, and off it comes again.

Probably easier and involving few callbacks to fit a pair of tap revivers if practical.

Thanks oldbuffer. On my second visit I swapped the washer for a thicker one. Hope it does the trick.
