Waterproofing a terrace - help / advise please?

My home is built on a downward slope with a patio/terrace at the rear with a storage area underneath. Over the damp winter I’ve noticed a considerable amount of damp in the storage area (dripping water!!) and need some advice on how to stop the rainwater penetrating. I’ve contacted a local damp specialist firm, but they say call a builder as it is outside work…..builder said call a damp company…..ahhggghhh!!!

The terrace is tiled with what looks like a concrete grout between each tile, over a concrete slab/timber framework with supporting metal joists in between.

Can anyone recommend a product that I could apply myself to waterproof the surface layer of brickwork and tiling??

I do feel you need to look at outside to prevent damp problem for long term.

Re: Sealing from the outside....previously people have told me that we should tear up the top covering of tiles, seal the concrete, put down a damp proof membrane, skim with concrete and re-tile....but we are having a hard time finding someone to do it for us (i'm a luddite when it comes to tiling and building work!) .[/quote]
