Hello all,

We had given our new oak worktop its first coat of oil and it looked stunning. Our idiot tiler decided to give it a scrub down with water when we were out, and now it has gone very dark where he wet it, with patchy colouring and big dark wipe marks.

Naturally this was mortifying for us. We've given it a week and although it has lightened a little, its no where near the colour of the bits he didn't wipe.

Any advice? Should we keep waiting for it to dry more or try sanding it?

cheers

all you need to do is to re sand tops again if they don't come out perfect you could try oxalic acid this will remove all dark stains.then re finish with osmo oil and danish oil will not protect your tops well enough.
