What size cold water tank do I need?

I’m renovating and wish to change my cold water header tank that feeds the hot water tank from a 45 gallon plastic drum to a modern cold water tank that meets regulations and has the luxury of a lid !! I wish to fit it in an attic on beefed up ceiling rafters, what size tank (volume) do I need for the use of a small family using a gravity shower and occasional bath?

i would put a 50 gal.
