8 x 50watt downlights to replace a single pendant

Are you totally out of touch with the speed at which the icecaps are melting?
Are you totally out of touch with what is happening to energy prices?

Goo grief, man.

You are replacing a light fitting that will more than adequately light a room using 60watts of power (11 watts if you use low energy lamps)

Instead you are planning to put in 400watts of torch beam lighting.

That is going to cost you 6 times more in electricity to light your room, and the polar bears will drown six times faster.

And, blimey, 400watts. At least you will not need any heating in that room.

PS Sorry, cannot advise on the cable size/
