whining noise from thermostatic shower

hi guys - ive got a thermosatic shower like this one http://www.plumbworld.co.uk/architeckt-linear-0000-15912 in my bathroom runs off my combi boiler, anyway when im having a shower and ive got the hot water on, if i just turn the cold water slightly on i can hear a whining noise coming from the pipeworks up in the kitchen roof where the the pipes are coming from, if i turn the cold water slightly more the noise goes away.....ive now notice that if i just have the hot water on only i can hear the whining noise as well....any ideas what it is....i fitted some inline valves in the hot and cold pipework in the kitchen roof space where the pipes are running from...could these be it ?...before i go into the kitchen roof space...ta
