Hopefully someone can help here: I've been reading forums for the past week and can't seem to explain the problems with our dishwasher.

Around a month back, the dishes stopped getting cleaned. It had been working fine before that. Watching a recent wash, everything seems to work except that the bottom spray arm turns quite slowly with very little water being forced out and the middle and top spray arms don't turn at all (with no water). Water heats up OK throughout the wash and then drains OK afterwards. Also no error flashes.

Most forums suggest either blockages in the pipes, cleaning filters and checking that the pump works.

All this seems to be fine to me (dishwasher in pieces as I type :D). I've checked all pipes and the spray arms themselves are clear as is the pipe that feeds the arms. Everything points to there simply not being enough pressure to force the water up.

I've also metered the motor pump (and practically every other part) and all looks ok. Started taking the pump itself apart to clean - nothing obvious there either.

Trying to remember what the dishwasher sounded like before it stopped and I think its (the pump?) making more of a chugging noise now but not finding anything obvious wrong with pump I'm reluctant to simply replace what is an expensive part.

Hoping someone can offer some advice...

Thanks in advance,
Jon

Double check that wash pump,if it is made by Askol the impellor comes loose and you need to replace unit with the old style wash pump being supplied.

Thanks. It is an Askol and see if anything obvious wrong. Will take a look at the impeller in particluar but it sounds like you're saying that if it has become loose somehow - whether through a break or general wear and tear - that it can't simply be fixed and the whole lot needs replacing... is that right?

I'm assuming the newer (older?) units aren't Askol's also then - do you know what makes these ones are (so I can be sure not to get an Askol again)..?

Thanks for the help!

The replacement is Ceset.
The Askol pump is notorious for failure of one sort or another. The normal ones are leaks, impellor failure and magnets cracking.
