My whirlpool washing machine stopped mid-cylce after making very odd noises, I've tried switching it to the rinse and spin and the drain cycles but it just makes a loud humming /gurgling noise for ages and then just cuts out, the start button and the 0 and 400 spin speed lights start flashing. I can't open the door now and there is a wash inside. I've had the machine since 2001. I can't find the instructions, is there anything I can do before having to call out an engineer?
