Hi, in the last 2 weeks our boiler has started making a whistling noise (not kettling/banging) all the time it is firing. The radiators are still getting hot and we are still getting hot water okay but does anyone have any idea what might be causing this noise? We think the boiler is about 10 years old.

Thanks!

wot does it whistle !
Could be fan bearings or scale in heat exchanger if its not the fan chuck some x200 into the system to try and break the scale down ;)

Well it's definitely not whistling "We wish you a Merry Christmas"

Thanks for the tips but am completely ignorant as to what X200 is or where I can get it! Could you expand on this please?!

Many thanks and Merry Christmas

What kind of boiler is it? If it has a fan you should be able to hear that starting up, does the whistle start at the same time or shortly after? And does the pitch of the whistle alter as the fan get up to speed?

If you press you ear around the casing maybe you will get an idea of where the noise is coming from.

Is the pump with the boiler or away from it?

The case seal idea is good, like if the pressure inside from the fan is escaping through a small gap.

Sentinel X200 Boiler Noise Reducer I have used, but with kettling noises, which you say you have not get.
