Why have you got a fan installed but not connected up?

Do you know if it works?

Well you need to be, because that affects how it's wired up, what sort of cable you need etc.

Do you want it to come on with the lights?

and reduce to 12v?
That's an odd thing to be "presuming" - you do have the transformer the fan needs, don't you?

Have you read these?:

I am still confused about

If you have one in the bathroom already then wire the new one like the old one.

If you have not already got one then read and follow the links in BAS's post together with the MIs that come with the fan.

no...its a local authority refurb where they put a 12v fan in the wall and leave you to sort out from there....nice of them i know!

Surely they also provide the transformer?

Have you bought the place, or are you a council tenant?
