I want to fit a 300 watt security light on my outside wall. The most convenient place to take a supply from is a 13 amp fcu. which at present is supplying a cooker extraction fan. This fcu is connected to a 20 amp radial circuit supplying the kitchen.

Q. Can i connect both extractor fan and light to the fcu. or what are my options.
Many Thanks.

The security light and extractor fan cannot be fed from the same FCU.
You will have to either spur another FCU off the existing one (as long as that itself is not a spur) or wire a new circuit back to your CU.
Wiring to the nearest lighting circuit is a possibility but tungsten halogen lights especially 500W will add around 2 amps to the circuit.Although you will fit 300W, there is the possibility you or someone else might want to put a 500W in.It depends on the existing load on the lighting circuit.

Thanks for your advice. The fcu is already a spur, but i might be able to make a new spur from another socket on the circuit. ( access may not be possible due to tiling).Alternatively i will have to go back to the cu.
Thanks again, much appreciated.
