Hi,
We are totally flummoxed. There is a lot of conflicting advice on how to lay wooden flooring onto a concrete floor.

Ideally we do not want to lay a floating floor, or ply down first, just lay the wooden floor directly onto the concrete, but..

- Do we need to DPM first
- Do we need to glue the wood down?
- if we have DPM will glue stick to it? (it is the bathroom we are doing.)
- if we do not use glue, will the wood stay in place?

Any advice or hints and tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Katie

You first have to check the moist content of the concrete. If that's 2% or below then you can use a flexible adhesive (like Mapei P990) to fully bond the floor without adding a liquid DPM first

If the concrete is between 4% and 2.1% you can apply a liquid DPM (Creom) first, not if the content is higher - the liquid DPM will not work.

That's right, but if someone insists on solid wood then we advice as best as possible.
Solid can be installed, as long as it are narrow boards and well protected (oiled) against spillages and drips.
