Hi All

Sister has the Greenstar CDI boiler which has an intermittent fuse blowing problem. started with internal fuse and occasionally the fused spur.

Worcester have been out and replaced fan, pump, electrodes, harness, PCB and gas valve. Still blowing? Now asking for another 270 quid before doing anything else.

Its possible it only blows when in heating mode as its only been providing hot water since the warmer weather and no problems.
It is in a garage but weather conditions dont dictate when it blows (warm or cold).
It has a Drayton timer on the wall next to it if that could have an issue.

Any help please.
Thanks

Stan

Nb should add the boiler can work for days without blowing or sometimes straightaway.

There's something there that the boilers not liking.

If you have motorised valves fitted then these are a favourite for this type of fault.

It's looking like the CH one if you have an S plan (x2 motorised valves) if it's never tripped when the central heating's switched off.

servotech,

Intermittent fault could be weather related, wet or dry not warm or cold.

External leak possibly running into the boiler or onto the timer etc. Getting into the air side of the flue and running back into the boiler etc etc.

Anything like that is possible. Needs investigating properly, not just throwing parts at.

OP ,have you had any electrical work done within your home ?

Servo tech you seem a quiet chap considering you joined in 2009 ? (y)

Servotech is famous....he was on a well known television programme setting up RGI's..
Servotech was also working on appliances whilst not gas registered.
He hasn't long been gas registered , can't you tell by his avatar?...advertising to all and sundry how important he feels being gas registered..;)
Now he's registered maybe he'd like a taste of his own medicine?..maybe we could set him up?

Now you're registered Roger, are you going to rig your FGA to shower higher co values? This is what we do isn't it???

Not so quiet after all :ROFLMAO: , was hoping he would divulge a little from my last comment, lets just say hanging a carrot .

but hey what goes around comes around and It happens in the weirdest ways sometimes ;)

Thanks Fellas

Not wet or weather related Worcester engineer checked for all that and no signs of water and it blows regardless of weather conditions.
No valves either which I would check for just a timer and room stat which I have now taken out of the system tonight and just working CH off the boiler.
So far with heating on tonight its stayed on so fingers crossed it might be a fault with timer or stat.
Time will tell though im surprised Worcester have basically provided parts to make almost a brand new boiler and not covered this????
