I am soon replacing the joists in my front room due to wet rot damage. All beams have been removed, room dried wirth dehumidifier and tanking slurry applied. Source of water has been fixed as was a bad drain.
The joists sit in holes in the wall and in two places share the same hole as the air vent covering part of the hole. My question is how best to wrap the ends in DPM. Have read to use 450mm roll and use short clout nails to fix underneath. How should the end of the host be wrapped that is in the wall. Like a parcel? How to seal it?
Should you cement around this?
What is best to use to level the beams? Plastic or metal spaces?
What treatment is best to seal the ends of the joist where it has been cut?
Thanks in advance.
