The above is a single built in multifunction oven. It has a grill element in the top and the usual element surrounding the fan at the back. The unit powers up and seems to start heating although whether this is from the grill or oven element i can't tell. One off the options on the rotary dial seems to show both top and lower elements but i can't see one. Anyway the oven seems to be getting hot the temperature reached light doesn't go out but rcd then trips.
Have examined both elements, no suspicious bulges or burn marks to them. Temp probe appears to be in good nick. Any suggestions? oven appears to have had very little use although 7 years old.

It has three elements on the fan oven setting only the circuler fan element at the back is used however on the conventional setting the outer part of the grill element is used and a hidden base element at the bottom under the enamel . it will be one of these at fault

You have to remove the back panel then at the bottom you will see two wires going to the base element .you have to peel the insulation back and by the each terminal for the wires is a securing screw it should then slide out.
