Urgent! Advice needed

Please Help Experts in the building trade. There used to be two double garages separating the houses and the other house decided to build an extension and turn there garage into part of the kitchen. And there roof from the kitchen is linked with our garage one. If we went and converted our garage into a home office, would we then become a terraced property with them?
But remember our garage isn't attached to our main house.
