Hello there, thanks for looking at the post.

I have a question on how to deal with this situation re the foundation after chimney removal.

I have removed the entire chimney from top to bottom, i have dug up abt 10 inch down from my floor (room) but no sign of slab/concrete floor where the chimney base was. There was a clear plastic underneath but broken. All i can see is hardcore type material coming out but no sign of floor whatsoever.

The question is how do i deal with this ? Do i just lay some concrete/mortar and level it up to the floor? Do i need to use any DPC membrane or insulation ?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

An example image i have attached is similar to what I have.

I wouldn't have thought it would be strictly necessary to put a DPM in, but it wouldn't hurt. Maybe pop a membrane down and cement back up to the floor.
