Terraced House-Cavity Insulation?

What kind of costs would I be looking at for cavity wall insulation in a 1940's terraced house? Its a 3 bedroom and an inner one of a block of four, (no gable end). How long to recoup the costs, (approximately). We have GCH and double glazing, (UPVC to rear, wooden to front). Loft is insulated and centre section T&G Boards for walking/storage. Is there a risk that if we get it done it will also spread sideways and partially insulate the houses on each side or are there barriers to prevent this? (Don't see why I should pay to help warm their houses!!)

you can probably get it done for £150 under one of the subsidy schemes, possibly free. Look at the websites of your gas and electricity suppliers, and your local council. As these very well-known organisation will do it so cheap, there is no need to go for a cowboy outfit.

How wide is the cavity? If you measure at a doorway or window from inside to out - how thick is it?

The installer will need to form a hole at the top and bottom of the wall to insert a spacer at the junction between the two houses. This prevents insulation being blown into the cavity of your neighbour's house.
