Painting over emulsioned walls

Hi

New here but got a quick question. Am moving into a property where the walls are emulsioned. Want to paint over in a new colour, do i need to sand the walls before painting or can i just paint over it?

Not sure to be honest, think its matt. Is there a difference how i should prepare them?

Ok, if it is matt and the paintwork is not heavily soiled you would be fine to paint it. If you are dealing with a silk finish lightly abrade and dust off the surface prior to painting.
