Hello all , just wondered if anyone has experience of this situation ?
Can your company cut your wage if it so desired even if you are doing the same job and same hours , if so how could or would they do it .

They can propose shorter hours or a day a week less IIRC and or just make people redundant.

but are they just seeing salaries as a cutable cost in order to meet the 4billion profit they forcast? icon_eek.gif

Problem is joe is that some companies during the recession know people are frightened of losing their jobs so they give the usual bumf that the company is in trouble losing money/orders and try to enforce a pay cut even when its still profitable

The company is in very good shape (multi millions profit ) the thought behind it is there are various sites earning different levels which they are looking to aliegn all be it the jobs vary quite a bit , and yes it looks like being driven to the lowest levels in the company icon_cry.gif

I seem to recall the workers at JCB back in 2008 taking a pay cut and still ended up losing their jobs,so its not always the best route to take.

Last shopfitting firm I worked for made 1/3rd of the workforce redundant shortly after the recession hit and asked the remaining staff to voluntarily take a 10% cut in wages. Those who didn't accept were top of the hit list for continuing redundancies. I accepted the wage cut and hung on for another year before finally being made redundant. Redundancy pay was of course based on normal wages, not the wages - 10%

One of the most devious tools employers used, is de-selection
Everyone is marked against a (so called impartial matrix) on numerous parameters of the job, each person being assessed, by three different people. The final outcome is the sum result of how your performance on the matrix topics covered, is totalled up.
In effect if your face fits then you still have a job, if not you are offered a position at several thousands pounds less.
Talk about moving the goal posts, if they want you out then it's goodbye!

Been down the redundancy road before. Most qualified, not the last in.
Highest paid though. For the least hours.

Wotan i would say you are near the mark , as yet i dont know how it will show its self till it comes but i am preparing to be massaged perfusley ending up beeing shafted with the rough end of a pineapple icon_rolleyes.gif

the only answer really is to take redundo, and buy a business... shop or something... then you can cut costs (staff included) and raise prices.... something you can't do as an employee !!!
