I'm not a tory , I'm a socialist. If you want to play in the game you have to be part of it. Being outside of Euroland is so stupid as to be insane. Nobody ever mentions what we get from them.

Well, go on then. What DO we get from them (apart from, of course, as Norcon says, rules and regulations that are of absolutely no benefit to us)?

It appears that lots of other countries want to invest in us

It appears that not the majority are from the EU.
We could have a trade fare with other countries outside the EU, no problem. Too much emphasis is put on us being a member. They cost us money, call the shots and do us no favours.

As far as I can make out,,, very fookin little. Most of the recent members to join the EU receive more than they can ever contribute to the EU. It's countries like us, that have to pay once to support these failing countries,, then have to pay twice, because they all fook off over here and claim benefits.
The EU has quite literally stuffed the UK. About time we said "Enough is enough."

There is no over-all benefit to us.

He works for Euro-Sat, so he's probably worried that he'll lose all his customers if we leave the EU

Firstly, Eurosat is a broad term for supplying sat tv equipment for viewing European sat tv. In other words, it allows people to view what is going on in Europe and the world from other perspectives. Again, if those who write did a bit of reading first, would see that I have made a thing of the exchange rate and the cost to our business by being outside the euro. Pound ? who cares what the currency is if you get more. Do you not think that every time we contribute to Europe the exchange rate diddlers make money ? Naivety should be a crime. Europe is a land mass ,the intention is/was to make it strong and fair for all Europeans [not outsiders] living here. As expected the anti Europe tribe always rant ,what do we get ? Rebates, subsidies in farming and fishing. When we got the floods Euro money was available, our leaders declined help. Why ? I'll tell you, because we don't need help we are too good and rich.

Rules and regulations, easy target. Don't you think that others in Europe don't have the same gripes ? Rules etc are made for ALL, we are on the outside with no contribution. Is it any wonder we feel stitched ? Keep voting and believing our chumps and it's only going to get worse

Thank you for your eventual partial reply. Now could you enlighten me with regard to the actual sums for each specific 'help' we receive, then provide me with the amounts we 'contribute' to this wonderful organisation for comparison?

I am not anti-EU for the sake of it.

However, we have a balance of trade deficit with the EU and it costs a lot to belong.
It would seem to be economically senseless to belong to a club out of which you got less than you put in plus it costs you a huge membership fee while others get paid to belong.

I suppose this is biased but must have some truth in it.

I particularly like the point that, while trading at a deficit, for every ten pounds of exports we sell to EU we pay twelve pounds in contributions.

I'd have liked to have read that link but, unfortunately, it seemed to jam up my computer.

Who are these Bruge types. I am sceptical on links such as this. I have encountered a joker on here who tried that on and was blasted outta the wasser, lol. Anti Euro group me thinks. Statistics, anyone who has heard the famous phrase knows exactly what they are , interpretation is all. Thatcher the union/milk bitch went on plenty about the rebates she had fought so hard for, lol. European utopia is a long way off , it's got to happen it's gonna take time and lots of problems. However, it beats war. What is that rubbish about exports. For God sake are some members have so short a memory. I've scribed loads on our export failure ,we haven't had an export surplus of any size post 1955.

If we contribute to Europe and receive rebates. Why ask me for the figures ? Go and find them yourselves. Must be readily available.

Because you made an assertion that we get more from the EU than we contribute. Remember?:

"what do we get ? Rebates, subsidies in farming and fishing. When we got the floods Euro money was available, our leaders declined help."

Links are used by members here frequently ,which in some cases end up being rubbished. All euro sceptics or the short termed usually come this value for money thing or losing the pound as reason for euroland being a very bad thing. They always come how much we pay in and what we get out. Funny thing being these anti's don't come up with how much we pay in , you have to come up with a starting point. Come up with the figures, then compare it with other member states. Go on

Whether this is still relevant, I can't say. It appears that we pay more in than we get back.
We can trade freely with many other countries outside the EU, especially Australasia. No doubt, we can still trade with our European allies without incurring the wroth of Brussels. Get us out now.

Ahh I see, these RULES are made for all are they?? How come then, the French can deport undesirables who (seemingly) have no recourse to the ECHR, yet we can't deport murderers and criminals, without some unelected people in Europe deciding whether we can? Seems rules are made to be broken (if your French)
