I'm not planning on using it often so the storage and expense of a dedicated drill press is hard to justify. Do you think that a tool which allows a regular drill to be used as a drill press would be worthwhile? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PLUNGE-PO...werTools_SM&hash=item35bc38ab5c#ht_1842wt_754

Has anyone here used something like this before? Is it difficult to get the drill perfectly vertical?

Based on Internet reviews of various makes and models of this basic design, I decided to get something which I hope will be more robust. I bought this drill stand by Wolfcraft. I've only used it very little so I'm not yet ready to conclude whether it was a good choice. It cost a bit more than a Silverline pillar drill so I would expect it to be solid.

As miniature pedestal drills, these things are fine, but they soon wilt if there's any real pressure put upon them.
What exactly do you need to press?
John :)
