hello

i'm looking to replace the fire brick to the back of a cast iron fireplace.

does anyone know if/ where i can get hold of a replacement tapered firebrick.

could I repair with fire cement or do i need a new one?

also is this a DIY project or better suited for a fire installer

I wouldnt have thought that you could find the right size. it is easy to make your own out of fire cement that you can buy from wickes, screwix etc. Break the original brick, remove it, you may then need to back fill behind the brick with a bit of rubble then some bonding plaster or cement. Then fashion a new brick with the fire cement. This is an easy job.
