There's a hole in my airbrick

I have a 6" x 9" airbrick at the rear of my property, just below the kitchen window.

It is starting to look a bit tatty, and part of it has crumbled, leaving a small hole. A friend suggested that mice could get in, so I have blocked up the hole with a small stone.

I'd like to improve the general appearance of the airbrick (and keep out mice!) and have been considering my options. However, it seems that this is the only product available for that sort of thing: http://www.mousemesh.co.uk/

The Mousemesh seems quite expensive for what it is and I was wondering if anyone is aware of any cheaper alternatives? As I say, we haven't got a problem with mice (that I'm aware of!) so it is mainly for aesthetic reasons.

Any suggestions?

To remove the old one, drill holes in the mortar around the edge of the old brick. It's far easier than you think it is.

That Mousemesh will clog up with dust in days, and therefore not provide any ventilation at all. It even says this on their website. A failed product.

i would say you will have several areas that mice can enter
if you are in a semi or a terrace then they can have a field day using the indoor motorway between interconnected buildings
