Hi all

Came home from a weekend away and noticed my ceiling was drooping down in the spare bedroom which has a flat dormer style roof.

Long story short, it was wet so I pulled it down and im left with, see the pics.

The plasterboard from the light towards the window looks fine, dry as a bone and is still complete.

What should I do with the rest of the room? Im planning on getting the plasterer in to skim when ive done but want to save as much money as possible with the prep.

Thanks

Cut back to nearest joist and re-board the 'hole' then re-board the complete ceiling and have it plastered.

Cheers for the reply mate.

Do you mean board the 'hole' with wood first or plasterboard before doing all the ceiling?

Board the hole with plaster board (the same thickness, 12mm or 9mm) then re board the complete ceiling.

Use screws that go through both sheets of plaster board and into the joists.

First sort out the leak/water problem.
Then looking at the state of play and the damaged already caused, I would get the hammer back out and remove the lot and start all over again with nice new 12.5mm plasterboarded ceiling.
But hard to access the size of the room and the additional work required.
Failing that I would try finding the edges of the complete, securely fitted undamaged boards and take down the rest. Then board up to them, you will need to install new boards to existing board level, then skim the whole ceiling.
