Am I being ripped off? Powerflush realy necessary?

its the installers responsibility to make sure the system he fits the boiler to is clean, if its dirty he hasnt fulfilled his responsibilities.
I would however be interested to hear the noise to know its not a combustion noise as the 415 and 418 have been known to whistle with the CO2 set at the higher end of tolerance, but I would have expected the Vaillant engineer to know that.
Where abouts are you? I may know who the vaillant engineer who visited.

I have a bottle of the water here.
It has no bits in it. Just the colour is yellow/orange.
Maybe I could post a picture of it somewhere.
I do feel like I might be being stitched up.
Any thoughts on what I need to say to these people to sort it out between them please?

I am in Welwyn garden city, hertfordshire. The installer mentioned the valve problem. Vaillant man said he had not heard of this problem on the 415, only the 418. If this resolves the issue it would be a lot cheaper than a power flush. I can send you a recording of the noise is you give me an email address please. And a picture of the water.

Vaillant man is called Tony. sorry, no surname or anything useful like his phone number left for us. I got that from the voicemail he left.

send me a recording to [email protected] and I'll see what it might be.

I wouldnt know your engineer anyway unfortunately, I used to do cover SG postcodes, the AL is on a different service patch.

orange could be bad news as it is associated with corrosion.

Can you find out what inhibitor he put in the system.

Has the Vaillant man made a site visit.

I would not hold an installer in very high esteem if he fitted a new boiler and added two bottles of leak sealer to the system instead of tracing the leak.

Surely he listed the inhibitor that he used on the Benchmark Certificate which he will ( should! ) have completed and left with the customer.

For that Installation price I would have been very happy to fit the boiler and give it free services for five years!

You can send water sample away to be analysed ,

Do vaillant carry out water sampling to prove they are right when they say not flushed properly ???

Seen problems in past with too much inhibitor where it caused bubbles and frothing up in the system but not with any of the modern stuff

When we had ours fitted by warmfront a bloke called 3 weeks later and tested the water while i was there and confirmed there was no inhibitor in.
What did he use? litmus paper?.

We have had several reports recently of Vaillant service engineers blaming "too much inhibitor" and refusing to accept liability for warrantee issues.

Could it be a management instruction?

But once they have attended thats 80% of the cost of a warrantee visit. The net cost of spare parts is usually small.
