Hi all,

Since having an extension built our hot water takes a while to reach the new kitchen (gravity system) so we are looking at relocating our hot tank elsewhere and probably move to a mains pressure system at the same time.

Before I call in the plumber do you think you pay extra for the Megaflo name, or are they the bees knees and do you pros fit anything else and are happy to reccommend?

It will have to be a direct cyl and there is 2 adults in the house.

cheers,

The patented air baffle doesn't work. This fact is acknowledged on the side of the cylinder, where instructions are printed to help homeowners resolve discharges from the prv.

Most unvented cylinders use a separate expansion vessel, which works much better.

Megaflo is a uk only product, Europeans are better educated and have had unvented systems for years, thus Heatrae Sadia cant get away with the marketing smokescreen that has worked so well with the gullible.

The PSA was using bubble-top calorifiers for decades before unvented water systems were legalized in the UK, using Crown Immunity, so it seems it can/does work.

The expansion vessel is only required by the UK Water Regulations, most other places allow the expansion water to be discharged to waste by the PRV. One reason being that the expansion vessel is a known haven for legionella; they were mumbling about plans to introduce a flow-through expansion vessel 8 or 10 years ago.
