Leaking Grp flat roof

Hi been having problems with our flat roof for years now , today during heavy rain I've notice it's letting in more rain water than ever ,we've had roofers come look in the past and all they've done is slap cement or used hot tar ? to patch up the leaks .

what is the best solution ?

It looks like you need a flashing cut into your brickwork and then a bell cast on the bottom of your render.

does it have to be cut in to the brickwork ? can flashing not be bonded to the wall?

If you dont want it to leak in another few weeks it has to be cut into the wall.

ok guys thanks for the help will have to get some quotes as soon as possible, in the mean time is it possible to use flashband tape as a temporary fix ? because at the moment i'm having to climb on to the roof during heavy downpours to sweep offthe excess rain water or else the buckets i'm using to catch the drips will fill up in minutes.

Seriously the people that did that repair called themselves Roofers???

Did they not advise you at the time that you needed flashing cutting in and this was the best solution or did you ask them just to patch it?

I sometimes wounder how these so called trades men get away with this kind of work or is it that the customer is not willing to pay for it to be done correctly!

I didn't ask them to just patch it because at the time I didn't know how water was getting in[I hadn't bothered to climb up to see for myself],
so wasn't sure what needed doing, I just let the roofers come up with the solution ,when the roofer climbed up she just brushed some black rubber stuff on? and said it would stop the leak , no mention of any flashing.

Sorry was not having a go at you! Just annoying to see what they do.

This is an easy fix which you should be able to do yourself. Plenty of videos on youtube on how to cut the flashing in!

just bumping this thread, I have some more questions about how to repair my leaking flat roof,
my diy fix of using flash tape has started to peel off the wall after a year now and is letting rain in again. see pic

now I want to repair with correct flashing but I can see a lot of the fibreglass has peeled/cracked away so no longer goes right up to the wall

So is it possible now to install a d260 wall fillet on to the roof ? ,I would then also fit grp or lead flashing cut into the wall.

Thats not fibreglass! looks like gray tar.

Do as you were originaly advised.

it's fiberglass but it's been trouble since we had it installed because they didn't fit flashing, this was 15 yrs ago.

too many cowboys or rip off merchants, not easy to find someone who will do the job properly.
