A wee bit more information on the drill and chuck type would be helpful. __________________ Lang may yer lum reek. |

spray with wd40 and a little tap with a hammer normally works with screw type chucks. SDS is a bit more problematic __________________ have grace to accept what cant be changed, strength to change what can, wisdom to see the difference |

Sometime the chuck jaws lock up on the drill, usually on either cheap or very worn chucks, if you can loosten the chuck with the key then tap the end of the drill with a copper mallet, this should shock the chuck open. If this is the case then it would be a good idea to replace the chuck with a new one. |
