Hello all :D
We have got a Ford Escort S reg in excellent condition, but we are being "driven" mad by the noise that is coning from the wiper blades.

It sounds like the rubbers on the blades are getting stuck, you know the rubber noise up against the window even when its pouring down?

We have changed the blades but they are still making the same noise, anyone got any ideas at all of the problem or solution :?:
thanks in advance

probably the windscreen is greasy.
Halfrauds do a glass cutting polish (dont worry about the name!) which takes all the crud off the glass.
T-Cut does the job aswell, so if you have some of that lying around try that.

Agree with ^neo^ but to add a point. Clean your window and remove wipers and clean them in hot soapy water other wise you will smear the grease back on the windows.

Buy 'Rain X'. Brilliant gear as it reduces the amount of wiping you have to do. The water just beads up and slides off the top of the window. :D

Cheers

Many thanks to you both Neo & Jimbo.
Although i had the car cleaned prior to putting on the new blades, i understand what you have both said and YES it makes sense!!

Off to Halfrauds (hahaha) tommorow to buy some Rain X

Cheers Lads

you could also try gently bending the arms so there not so tight against the screen, takes the pressure off the screen a bit.

Dont put rainex on your windscreen EVER, thats probably why your wipers are noisey cus they are contaminated from a previous treatment.

Dont get me wrong its great for side glass and heated rears that dont have wipers but never use it on a windscreen...

I've been fitting windscreens for over 10 years and i know what i'm talking about.

You want to use a jewelers rouge on the wiper sweep to cut back any additives(try a local Autowindscreens or Autoglass), and then replace the blades. But dont be surprised if that doesn't work as we have had to change complete screens for this problem.

have you recently replaced the wipers blades recently, they could be worn if you havnt replace them.
If you have replaced them then were they the right size and also cheapy cheap wiper blades are poorly manufactured and do make this noise, i have seen it on a cars with pattern part wiper blades
