I am currently making modifications in a shop before it is turned into a new delicatasian. Downstairs is all shop front, with a door leading to a hall way, and upstairs is an office and small kitchen area and store. (Staff only)
Are aico mains interlinked smoke alarms (heat in the kitchen) satisfactory?

You would be best off speaking to your local fire officer.

They will advise you of what specific risks your shop has and how best to protect life & your property

No one on here can advise you futher as fire alarms have to be tailored to your specific site, requirements and risks.

For a shop of your size I would guess a 4 zone conventional panel would be adequate, but without seeing the job, who knows?

Also see the link below for a brief description of different fire alarm types
