i want to install a first time shower for this house. i think the heating system we have is a fire place back boiler in the kitchen. in the airing cupboard theres a hot water tank and above that is a cold water tank but i do not think this is used for the cold water for the taps as the water inside this tank looks like its been stationary for a while and unfit for tap water. i think all cold water taps are feed from the mains.
Does this sound right for water systems? and is a power shower the best option or an option at all.
I dont want to have to install a electric shower at the fuse box is located 2 floors down and to power this would be a bug elecrical wiring job.
If any could help i would much appreciate this. i can provide pictures of my system if this would help.

You discribe a fortic type cylinder a pic of that would help to make the mind up

i will send a pic asap when i am home. in the mean time if the taps are all mains fed is a power shower out of the options? or can i use some form of flow restrictor? in the mean time i have ordered a flow/pressure tester to see what mine is

No it's not a problem with mains pressure, just fit a pressure equalising valve.

What we going to do tomorrow

i am not home untill then. so you information will have to store up untill then. :D

Nice fortic tank pics  The black tank is for the heating.

Shower pump No chance unless you can change the cylinder

would the idea of a thermostatic power shower connected to the bath pipes with a pressure equalizing valve be out of the question? i really dont want to go down an electric shower route as my consumer unit is in the basement and would be a hassle to wire it up.

can any one help? or are we all fighting diy gremlins elsewhere? :(
