Indesit washing machine - spin cycle stuck

Hi there

I have an indesit washing machine just over a year old and has worked well to date. However, tonight I put on a load of washing and after 20 minutes the washing machine would not spin. It was making noises as if it was trying but something was stopping it. There was also a slight burning smell. I switched it all off and emptied it. The washing was damp and there was water in the bottom. The manual does not cover this problem in its troubleshooting section.

Please note that a few days ago it would not turn on at all therefore I changed the fuse. Don't know if this is connected to the problem.

Any ideas? I am pretty clueless and skint so any suggestions would be appreciated.
