when painting over pebble-dash, which has not had a previous coat applied. Do you need to stabilise or prime it before applying the top coats?

You can use Leyland Pliolite Based Masonry Paint with NO sealer required.....i.e. just use mentioned paint but thin down first coat with upto 15% white spirit.

Yep id go with that too...I wouldnt risk water based masonry paint in this weather..the rain can wash it off...or the frost could cause it to freeze over and still be wet the following day

In fact any of the pliolite based based will do it..but leyland or Johnstone will be the cheapest.

Stabiliser wont stick to pebbles..it needto penetrate a surface oyherwise the lot will blow.

Tip...make sure you wear gloves and cover your head...and rub some vaseline over your face...its an absolute animal to get off the skin.
