Putting a new light fitting in and have to rewire ceiling rose/juction box.

When turning the power off, is it enough to swith the lighting ciruit off at the main fuse board so power elsewhere can stay on (but the down stair lighting ciruit stays off) or should I shut power off altogether on the main off

DO shut the power off at the mains.

If someone has wired the switch incorrectly then the fitting could still be live, also power will also be present in the ceiling rose even with the light switch turned off.

 sorry read the question wrong!

I read it as just turning off at the switch (had a busy day)

Ignore my comments!!

Does pulling the fuse out on the consumer board equate to shuting the power off??
