Hello

I'm looking at new windows and want to keep out as much noise from the road in front as possible - is there any type of glass that offers the best noise insulation (I don't want secondard glaszing).

Just one option:

6.4 Laminated Safety (Low E) - Inside Pane
12mm Cavity
10mm Float - Outside Pane

glassman - you know your glass!

Is this something a window company will understand if i ask them - also; the recess for their glass is for 24mm double glass K glass....

It's a pretty standard unit make-up for sound insulation.

It's what I would normally recommend for homes that sit on top of railway lines and very busy roads etc.

Most of todays new UPVC windows have 70mm profile with a 28mm glazing rebate.

Using the above unit make-up will only give you 8mm for the cavity.
Your local glazier should be able to advise you if you ask him.

Out of interest, what price would a m2 of that unit make up be in comparison to a typical 28mm DG unit?
