the best place to get the timber from is a timber merchants. Dont get it from wickes, b and q etc. It will be more expensive, limited size and poor quality.
There is an absolute library of information on these pages, so have a troll through. Also worth looking at the richard burbidge web site. Just remember it is not rocket science and most people tend to way over design and build it.

Thanks for the reply thermo l will look up the info, just wanted a rough idea how much the wood costs a length so l can price it all up. The grounds not level and with it being my first attempt just needed advice but l will read up....Cheers
