which cable?

Hi, I wonder if someone can help. I want to put a telephone socket into a room in my basement and run the cable behind plasterboard, through the ceiling - which cable do I need, what is it called? and does it need to get back to the main telephone socket?

Cable can be run from nearest socket or the main but best to have total only two cables punched into the connectors.
