Does a dishwasher have to be connected underneath a sink - Or can it be connected elsewhere in the kitchen (close to the sink)
Sorry - Having a new kitchen fitted and i want to make sure all the designs are spot on

It can be anywhere you like, within reason.

It only needs a cold water connection (some may have a hot connector too) and a waste pipe connection. When your new kitchen is being fitted then they will have to do some plumbing anyway, it is an easy job to run off dishwasher/washing machine feeds and usually an easy job to extend the waste pipe out to the dishwasher.

If you want to have it e.g. in the middle of the room in an island, it will be more expensive and difficult. But just having it two units to the left of the sink shouldn't offer any problems.

Thanks for your reply Adam

Sorry to be so naive on this matter - I just honestly don't know how these things work. Kitchen is due to be fitted next week. We have to purchase a slimline integrated dishwasher. Am i to get the kitchen people to drill holes through the cupboards or should i get a qualified plumber to do this?
