Check for resistance across the element. If it is open circuit, the element is duff.
You could also check for 240v (usually, unless elements are in series...but then more than one would fail...) at the element terminals in the rear casing. This involves working with live terminals, and with the rear cover removed, so probably not a job for a novice DIY'er. |

If the grill gives the option for 1/2 grill, then the selector switch could be naff. |
