remote switch

I have 3 light fittings i wish to install along the underside of my kitchen wall units, they will be connected to a plug socket wihich is concealed at high level above the wall units.
The problem i have is that the lights do not have their own on/off switch, so i need to install a remote switch from the socket, is that possible? if so, how do i go about this?
