Soil pipe connection

The joint from a toilet pan outlet into a ceramic soil pipe was leaking. I have chipped out the old putty and need to reseal the joint. Which jointing compound should I use?

You may find it better and easier to use a Pan Connector. They are designed to push onto the pan outlet and into the soil pipe.
