Kitchenaide Dishwasher Burping a cup of water

At startup, when the dishwasher is filling up with water and then it kicks over to the washing cycle there is a leak from the bottom of the door of approximately a cup of water. Once it burps it's fine. I'm tired of putting a towel down there to catch the water. By the way, when the door is open the top tray tends to come out (meaning the unit isn't level, would this have meaning?)
