cheapest effective moisture meter for concrete?

What is the easiest,cheapest way of testing moisture content in a concrete floor for laying laminate only-not timber!
Some of the meters available cost a fortune-is there a cheap reliable method?

touch it?

any meter can ony check the resitance of the surface, let it dry naturaly

are you crazy?
im not talking about fresh concrete here!
you cannot judge the moisture content of a concrete slab by touch

i can see all those curling laminate boards right now lol

Protimeter Surveymaster.....but it works on 90volt dry batteries so I`m playing with some 9volt ones and wires ..have a look at www.batpack.com....I bought it at a boot sale a while ago and didn`t realise it was so old it ran on 90volts ....like the pre-transistor, valve portable radios .I paid £15 for it
