Dishwasher drain pipe

Is is OK to run it along the low level recess along the back of the machine before running it up to top of the adjacent cupboard before going down to the sink drain. I'll also fit an anti-syphon valve.
Maybe a stupid question, but all the install diags infer that it should go up near to the top of the d/w behind it, but I'd rather run across at low level in the recess.

Just make sure there is at least a 2 degree fall from the washer.
Would'nt bother putting anti syphon device on, should have one on......E.
 
Matt remember the pump can only pump water, not air, so the contents of the horizontal and downstream vertical bits of pipe will flow back into the dw when the pump stops. I'd check with the manufacturer.
