I have just started ripping out my old kitchen which was half tiles and half carpeting. Underneath that i have found half the kitchen is floor boards and the other half is concrete. Is it possible for me to tile the whole floor, if so what would be the best way of proceeding? :(

I tiled my floor mate but it was a concrete floor. What you have to remember is the adhesive has to have nowhere to go...wood...moisture....rot. This is not advice from a pro just something i was told. Hope it helped:cool:

It is normal to lay Plywood sheets and screw them at 6 inch centres when tiling over floorboards. I would also recommend you use a flexible tile adhesive .

Well this is one area where I almost feel like a pro because I am just finishing this job up now(after 2 weeks of working at it!) Tore out 3 layers of lino and a sub floor(K3 board)only to find another layer of tiles but I just installed plywood over them and now I am almost done the ceramic tiling. Question: Once I have grouted and its dried and I've washed the tiles, I apply a sealant, right? Now what is the normal maintenance of a ceramic tile floor? Just a damp mop no detergent to clean it?? or is this going to be a fussy cleaning job??? :( thanks.
