I have been advised to hire a Dehumidifer to dry out a reappearing damp patch on my ground floor causing by my neighbours flooding through a party wall.

Is there any use in hiring a dehumidifier or is there something else I can use?

you need to use a dehumidifier in a closed area (doors and windows shut) otherwise you are trying to dehumidify the world.

maybe you can just increase natural ventilation and save a lot of money?

taking off the letter-box flap (unless it is withing a metre of a nightlatch knob) and opening the loft hatch will cause a surprising airflow.

I've done the letterbox and the loft opening, but I've also added a regular fan into the equation while I'm in.

A couple of weeks of this and fingers crossed it should dryout.
