Can you wall mount the shower head of a bath/shower mixer?

We want to get a double-ended roll top bath with traditional style bath/shower mixer tap, and it makes sense to us that we could get a wall mounted slide bar to attach the shower head element to when we want to use it as a shower. But I've been searching the net and can't see anyone who has done this, is there some reason why not? It seems silly to get a whole shower system with separate controls when there's a perfectly good shower already attached to the taps! Thanks.

As your roll top bath will not (usually) be fitted up against a wall ,when you use the shower some water will fall outside of the bath which can obviously cause problems, also when it is turned off after useage it will probably dribble for a while, again more water on floor.

this must be a wind up, unless they have one of those shower curtains that goes all around the bath.

Yeah but if it's an old-style one with a handlebar bracket for the shower head it'll dribble on the floor anyway, that's just the nature of the beast. Presumably this one is reasonably close to the wall if it's being suggested that a riser could be fitted.

Something like one of these will remove the splashing problem

Obviously the curtain needs to be hung in such a way that the shower head can be poked through, but that's not exactly hard to do.

Screwfix, and probably plumber's merchants/sheds/just about anywhere else do riser rails as a standalone item. Here's one that might even match the taps http://www.screwfix.com/prods/53991...rs-_-Traditional Shower Riser Rail?source=aw#

From a DIYer rather than a plumber.

We have one of these retro styled systems and bear in mind they may have no thermostatic protection, if you're using as a fixed shower.

If you're washing your hair in the bath or rinsing afterwards, you'll be holding the shower head in your hand and if it went hot you could spray away, instantly. If it were fixed to a wall you couldn't and you might either get burned or slip, trying to get out of the way. Even more dangerous with kiddies.

Just a thought.

ps you might be able to angle the handlebar so that the drips from the showerhead drips back into the bath rather than on the floor. We did that with our one, as there was a hex nut that could be loosened to allow the slight rotation.
