Cable in Cavity Wall?

As a result of an extension to the side of our house what was once an external wall is now an internal wall.

There is no cavity fill.

Is there any reason why I cannot now use the cavity of this internal wall to run cables?

The issue with cables in a cavity is that the cable could bridge it and cause damp. You dont have that prob if its now an intenal wall so would guess its OK.
Two things to point out
1. Cables must still be properly supported
2. Dont forget to derate cable if it will be surrounded by thermal insulation...

Does the cavity of this wall join to the cavity of the exterior walls? if so then I would be worried it could end up filled with cable destroying polystyrene at some point in the future.

The main reason from an electrical point of view is damage to the cable during or after installation.

It should not be done.
